Volunteering for Natural Disasters

I was just wondering, how does one go about volunteering and being one of the people who is flown out to a foreign land whenever there is a big catastrophe, such as an earthquake/tsunami? Anybody have any ideas, webistes etc?

Be a specialist in your field, ie train dogs to sniff out people buried under concrete. bury MIL & see if your dog can find her!

it's a good thing to know someone is taking curiosity on volunteerism. Hope you can help out soon also to the people of Joplin. Just in case. Many are left homeless there and lucky are others who have homeowners insurance. I've read an article and seen pics of the place. It's heartbreaking. Good luck though!
