no matter which way you look at it, life is all a bit absurd.
From a naturalistic point of view, this planet that we live on will one day be consumed by the sun and all life will cease to exist. So why bother with any kind of advancement? We will all die in the end and cease to exsist anyway.

From a supernatural perspective (religious, spiritual etc) its just as meaningless.
We all evolve or enter into another dimension (reincarnate or end up in heaven / hell /summerland or some other realm) but to what purpose? What happens when we end up 'enlightened'? What then?

Any thought guys?

This ram has no choice, do you think the ram would stand up there of its own free will, it knows it will fall if it moves. Yes I know rams can get into some strange place by balancing precariously to feed, this ram is not feeding, it is up there for public display only.

Ultimately the building blocks for life are the same as the building blocks for everything else. It all consists of atomic particles which owe their existence to the Big Bang and what happened afterwards.

Particles come out of nothing all the time, that is why the vacuum of space is heaving with virtual particles that come and go. It is a result of the fact that we can not know with accuracy the values of certain pairs of measurement. One result of this is that there is a small but finite chance of things coming into existence. We may not know the exact details of the Big Bang, but we know enough to see it is feasible, and that the evidence supports it having occurred.

Another picture of a ram on a stick changes nothing, i'm sure there is a queue of rams waiting to stand on a stick for the pleasure of tourists.

We all have our own thoughts of how animals should be treated, mine are obviously different than yours.

I've started something with the Avatar! To be honest, I had also thought it was someone in a boat until I looked more closely and then I mistakenly thought that it was some sort of ritual sacrifice - 'should have gone to specsavers'!

I am relieved to find out I was wrong but, on balance, I agree with Ratter15. Whether or not the Ram could jump off, we don't know what it has gone through in order to train it and what sort of punishment it could expect if it did jump off! If there is no cruelty then I will say sorry for that assumption.

This seems to be going off topic a bit but isn't it interesting that Ratter and I agree on this? Just shows that we are all different and I for one am so pleased that we are all so different and, in general, we all have different passions and concerns that generally mean that there is someone to fight on behalf of injustice in all walks of life.

I like that.

I had decided not to post on this thread again as once again we were posting just for the sake of posting. But someone asked or mentioned some sort of problem about my Avatar and I decided to clarify as I could only do that on this thread as I do not want to put a new thread only for that purpose.

Having said that all for argument sake I can say I find Ratters avatar very mush disturbing as he has forced a dog to stand on two legs where usually dogs do not do that even when they are looking for food unlike rams. Then of course he has grabbed that poor dog and not letting him go. How cruel.

Without going into details all I would say that the people who believe it is cruelty has no idea what they are talking about as they can only see these things in photos and perhaps websites etc. Same kind of people used to get their photo taken with one foot on shot dead tiger and now they say say them, same sort of people used to hire children when Europe was making progress through so called "Industrial Revolution" and now have objection about child labour in other countries. One thing they do not know is that these rams, and these children don't earn food only for themselves but for families of sometimes many people. Otherwise there are millions of rams just like the one there that become food of the others.

So all few people have to do is if they find anything like this disturbing, read your own history and you would find many things that would make this look real fun. To start just watch Horrible History programme meant to be for kids that tells you what used to happen here. My kids really love that programme.
