It's only worth the money if you actualy watch the channels that are not the free ones you can pick up on freeview boxes. We have sky yet half the time it's the free channels my gf watches, I always watch the documentry channels we paying for.
I had Sky about 6 years ago, but eventually realised that for the amount of time I was watching, it was much too expensive. I got a Freeview box and still have too many channels to watch. The only thing I miss is the Discovery channel, but this week I have registered with Sky online and can probably watch it there, so I'm happy (and richer!).
I was with Sky for years (it seemed forever) & was paying for all movie & sport channels it suddenly dawned that we were paying a fortune & really watching very little ( mostly BBC & ITV) so, cancelled Sky & now watching all we want to watch on Freesat using sky dish ( watching all we watched previously but now for nowt).Ron.
Love the sky+ box never use the vcr now and I like the channels that come on sky, so many to choose from rarely use freeview. Must say sky isn't cheap but we don't have sports and films etc so happy with that for the variety we get.
Have you had a look as to which channels you mgiht be in interested in, like would you be comfortable with just the basic package or would you want to add a package or 2.
Regarding the comment about the sky+ box, you get much the same features on freeview and freesat digi boxes. A few hundred pounds at most and that's it for life.
