I've been dealing with the Child Support Agency since November and it's been a catalogue of blunders on their part. They now tell me that their computer system has "lost" my file.Someone told me that if they have made no progress after 20 weeks, I can claim compensation from the CSA. Is this true and if so how do I go about claiming it?

You should write to the chief executive's office via the address of the centre dealing with your application, and request a special consolatory payment. Also when the assessment has been completed, and the arrears calculated, you should write again and ask for an advance payment of maintenance.Hope this helps!

Best of luck.  My partner launched an appeal against his treatment by the CSA two years ago and he is still waiting.  Basically his ex-wife had very large lump sum in a clean break agreement, they had a row, she went to CSA and they have pursued him relentlessly since.  he had his own business for 5 years during which time they continued demanding unrealistic payments even though his half of the profit amounted to only 5000 per annum.  The head honcho has stated in writing a date when the appeal would be settled but that date has passed without him hearing anything.  We worked out that one small boy has cost him 100K including the lump sum in 10 years!!  Oh and the ex-wife earns 50K per year and has a swanky house in a swanky part of London!

I have been fighting with the CSA for 13 years and still no further on. They offiered me 8000 in compensation this year and within one week withdrew it and gave no reason. I have written 20 complaint letters and never received a reply and have also gone through the right channels for complaining and 12 weeks down the line still no heard anything. My local MP has also written to the Cheif Executive of the CSA regarding the compensation that was promised (a verbal guarantee is now legal) and has had no reply. Good luck, I am 13 years still down the line but will never give up.
I am just about to make a complaint for neglect and maladministration to the CSA. I am owed over 22,000 in arrears and CSA have never collected a single payment for me in 14 years!!. If anyone has any communication/letters of complaints or any other info I would be most grateful
dont get too excited their compensation is of thevalue of only £50 and it took me 9 years of phoneing the csa up about my case to ge ths. so obviously i have spent triple this payout in just phone calls to the csa. good luck.
