Flat Screen Plasma Television Problem Help Please

We have a flat screen Plasma television which we have had for 5 years ,all has been so good ,just lately,as soon as the TV is switched on the screen flashes on and off just like sets used to do "In the old days"when the valves were warming up.
Any idea what the problem might Be.

I believe plasmas only have a 10,000 hours life-cycle.
Could that have been reached?

I have researched your comment ,The figure that is given by many different manufactures is 100,000 hours @ 4hours a night = 68 years .
