Originally York, live on Anglesey and work in Bangor (Llandygai). Beverley - lovely place with the wide expanse of parkland by the racecourse - used to stop off there on the way back from the seaside for a 'decent' ice cream!!
I'll never forget the first time I saw the B.O.B.M.F. we'd taken mum up to Clumber Park for a picnic. We heard this sound in the distance and as soon as she heard it mum looked up and said "It's a Lanc" and sure enough along it came with the Hurricane and Spitfire flying shotgun on their way to the Finningly air show. Mum ended up in tears and she told us how she and her two sisters were land girls and would watch and listen to the bomber streams going over at night and then in the morning watch them, usually damaged coming home, how everybody would stop and look up when a particularly badly damaged one went over. She said you could almost feel people willing them to get home safely
We had a fish and chip shop in Beverley . Oh happy days (not) I felt like I smelled of fish and vinegar all the time !
