2 year old niece hitting people

What should i do?every time she sees me she wants to hit me,so i always tell her i didn't do anything why are you hitting me or like right now i was talking to my mom and my niece came up to hit me,so i told my niece that i was just talking that i wasn't doing anything wrong then my mom started yelling at me saying i was immature that she's only 2 and I'm 25 so am i doing something wrong by letting her know that this beaver is wrong or should i just leave it alone?

Ok, so I think the general consensus appears to be that both methods will work.


Personally I would rather rear a well balanced family that does not lead to generations of hitting children to make them behave.

Respect comes from love and understanding, not from fear of being physically punished.

And parents should lead by example. Smacking might have stopped me from being naughty on some occasions, but only because I was frightened of getting smacked again not because I knew I had done wrong and was sorry.

I do believe in discipline but not physical discipline. How can a child respect a parent who smacks them and then tells them they musn't smack or hit anyone.

In the case Star, if her niece got smacked for smacking her .......... well it doesn't make sense!!

And Ratter, I bet you have never smacked your dogs have you, and they are well behaved!!

Lofty, no we would never smack our dogs, we don't need to, they are "reasonably" well behaved and trained. I do wish I could train them to stop them standing on my bare feet, they are so heavy. lol
