A pretty straightforward solve this week, as 6 or 8 cold solves revealed the likely method of entry. But, a well constructed puzzle, and a nice break after last week's brainbuster.

Thank you Waterloo, and now I can't get that damn Abba song out of my head.

Clamzy - Yes of course. I was heading for a different Y. Dr b - I'm much too naive to be spoofing.
Blimey - those poor long-suffering editors. Last week moan moan moan on AB as it was 'too hard' and this week moan moan moan for being 'too easy'. And meanwhile moan moan moan about the 'lack of variety' (wrt carte blanches)!!! if Phi bothered to read last week's AB but stopped disheartened, please read my positive comment at #98 (only come on to AB when finished and sent). And thanks too to Waterloo for this week's gem. A cleverly created and satisfying puzzle, and a relaxer after last week. If the Listener editors read AB then you definitely have one satisfied customer - keep up the good work!

Perhaps, as in Goldilocks and the Three Bears, this week's will be "just right".
I have just one square left to fill in this week's puzzle, square 62. I know the answer to 61a and I've read the comments about using / to help, but I still can't fit a letter in and make it work. I'm a bit rusty having only just got back into these crosswords but a simple nudge in the right direction from somebody would help!
Walterloo - The / indicates a choice. You've answered using one choice. Now answer using the other.
Thanks Contendo, your comment made me realise I had a letter wrong in one of the relevant cells which through me. All done.
Make that THREW me of course. It's been a long week.
I can't access 4147. Anyone else having the same problem? Maybe my subscription has expired. If so they haven't told me.
dr b - Well, it's that other old favourite, a Playfair.
I can't get into the club atall.
They seem to have changed the format......AGAIN
Can anyone supply a link, or it's wait until tomorrow time.
Thank you
Enjoyed all your responses when I got to the finish and so allowed myself to read the words of wisdom. I found this very logical and great fun - pleasant light relief after the storming of the keep. Perhaps Waterloo wasn't such a difficult battle.

Well done those who found those strange extra bits, but it can't be Archery surely. They used guns and swords and that at Waterloo didn't they?
Oh dear. Holiday, so a late attempt at the Keep, then a groan(!) at 4146, which appeared on my computer screen with no grid at all. Shades of Dimitry, as reported in 4145 by tristram37 Only realised there was a grid when, having completed it over several days as a gridless carte blanche, I checked the times website on a newer computer. This was in desperation, hoping for a missed instruction on putting in bars and numbers - and there was the grid! Doh. Possibly even e-la.

Eril, I’m with you. To much moaning. The Keep was good, and this one was different and fun - enjoyed 18d as well as well as 61a. Thanks Waterloo - and a belated thanks to Phi, too. I’m happy so long as there’s no Playfair encoding....... on to 4147.......aargh!
