For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.It means the horse wasn't entered at the first closing date for entries, which was a few months ago but there is a late entry system that is considerably more than the origanal fee. This is called a supplementary entry fee and gosden thought it worth paying as nathaniel has improved greatly since the entries closed. Hope that explains it
So as a follow-on to callboys reply (apologies to Groupie for the hijack)
Have you any idea what the 'standard' entry fee might be to a high profile race like this?
I know the total purse for the race is £1m (1st gets about £560,000) but surely a vast majority of this might actually be a 'bet' by the owners to get their own money back - along with some from their opponents!!
Just a thought
And to Ratter - groan!!
