I have had quite bad stomach pain for nearly 4 days. It comes and goes in waves, but when it is bad, it is very very painful. I feel very bloated and uncomfortable. The symptome become far worse if I eat (even 1 piece dry toast) so I am now scared to eat anything.
My doctor suggested food poisoning and gave me some mebeverine hydrochloride tablets, which are for IBS but he said should help with the pain. I have had no sickness or diorreah as yet, just the pain/cramps. The tablets havent helped (2 days in taking them)
I have never had food poisoning before, is it common for the pain to last a few days and does anybody know any home remedies or products I can use as well as tablets to help??

Have you passed wind?
Any problems with your water works?
Could you tolerate fatty foods?

Then we could offer some advice,
If it is your lower abdomen and you may be having difficulty going to the toilet it could diverticulosis. Try looking it up on the internet.

It's gone on for several days, I would go back to the doctor on Monday if I were you.
Well it seems no big deal and I cannot think of a better diagnosis than your Dr has given.Although a bit young, jenniferd may have a point Diverticulitis.

No it is not common for the pain of food poisoning to last this long and certainly without diarrhea or vomiting.Merbeverine should help.

Monitor the situation and get back to us tomorrow morning.

To those who posted, thanks, it appears to be clearing up and was likely to be something that I ate.
I have kept well hydrated and have been able to keep down some soup today without the pains, sickly feeling. The Mebeverine tabs kept the edge of the cramps/pains.
Hopefully back to work tomorrow!
