watering potatoes
4 Answers
Is it possible to overwater potatoes. I have some earlies in a raised bed and have been watering most days. They seem to have grown at a very rapid rate, have loads of leaves and have only been in about 3 weeks. Am I overdoing the water and should I be feeding them or not. This is the first time I have grown potatoes so not sure of the regime. No signs of any flowers yet.

We very very pleased with our first attempt at growing spuds, and have been getting between 2-4 lb per plant, and will lift the final one this week. We have watered every evening apart from when it rains.
The guy on our neighbouring allotment also planted his in early march....
..' The last time he watered his was the day he planted them'... He is getting around 5-7lb per plant ... He maintains that the farmer does'nt water his spuds... so why should he water his ?
So who is right, and who is wrong ?
