Setting up Hotmail on my mobile phone?

Hi - I want to be able to set up my Hotmail account on my mobile phone (Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini) but it's asking for either POP3 or IMAP4 details during the set up stage? I don't know what either is and the phone manual says I should be able to get these details from Hotmail but I don't know how and can't see anything obvious on their website.

Anyone know what POP3 or IMAP4 are?

Have tried adding 'pop3.live.com' and 'smtp.live.com' at the relevant places and it says "Server not found". Any thoughts?

Is it an Android phone? When I tried to set up Hotmail on an Android phone that I had I kept getting the same "server not found" message.
I gave up in the end and changed the phone, I think Android and Hotmail just don't get on, either that or it was just me.
