Cancer Research UK crying out for funds
A TV advertisement today shows they need funds urgently. They point out the government doesn't supply a penny towards this vital research and relies totally on contributions from the public. Thousands are dying every year from this horrible illness.
Why does the government refuse to contribute while at the same time is donating £millions abroad especially those caught up in the famine in East Africa? They also get donations from the public.

The government also won't put enough money into overall health care here in the UK and yes, so many of the drugs that are developed here by brilliant British scientists and researchers do not reach UK patients. But they do reach patients in other European countries, who spend far more per capita on their health budgets. This government feels it can justify spending immense amounts on foreign aid, while letting its own people down! Makes me sick this does!!! I am not against helping other countries, but surely our government should clean its own house first! Gromit, yes they do fund some of the research, but compared to the other "well to do" countries, they spend far less. There are so many vital things here that the government keeps telling us it cannot afford to fund ... the Devon Air Ambulance for one, an essential service here in this region. Good on you Pa___ul3 and a big thank you from those of us who have encountered this dreadful disease.
The hospice movement is such a vital institution too! They do great work! But nooooo ... the government wants to portrait itself as being the great saviour ... sadly mainly to people outside this country! I would have been lost, had I not had such wonderful help from St. Lukes Hospice when my son was dying! Their work is invaluable!!
