murderers getting a new identity

I have read in the Sunday papers that Tracey Andrews is annoyed because they wont give her a new identity ! she has already had £5000 worth of plastic surgery whilst in prison ! what next, she murdered her boy friend why should the country go to this expense for her?what makes her so different from all the others ? I would like £5000 worth of plastic surgery but I cant afford it !if I murdered Mr S would I stand a chance ?

If she wants to protect herself she must look after her own identity. Why should the tax payer foot the bill for her safety. The person she killed has no life at all thanks to her.

TTG - intellectually, yes i wouold, emotionally, no, you are quite correct.

It is important that the law, and its application are without emotion, otherwise it would fail to exist.

Fortunately, our laws are applied fairly, even if it does not always appear so to be - emotional reaction would have this country's streets running with blood constantly, and that would be the end of us as a civilised society.

I have not read up on this particular matter but are you saying she has been threatened and if so please could you provide the link as I am interested etc.

Forget my last as I have now read a few on line site.

My opinion, yes Andrews has the right to a peaceful life after release and will be afforded initial protection in various forms but due to the circumstances surrounding her situation she should seek her own way of funding a fully-blown identity change and this not not be met by the tax-payer. This would cost hundreds of thousands of pounds and could be never ending.

There have been other high-profile cases where the state has paid for all of this, some of which I can understand, however, I do not consider this one of them. The line has to be drawn some where
