Hey everyone hope your all having a good night!
I was just wondering something....

I finised a work contract at the end of July and now I'm taking Aug off before throwing myself into work again (once I can find it) but I don't want to claim job seekers allowance!
So when it comes to council tax etc what do I do? Is there a way to say I'm not working but now I don't want your money??

yes, don't apply for any benefits.

or am I missing something?
If you don't sign on as unemployed then you will not be credited with the relevant NI contributions which may have repercussions in the future.
I don't see what point you are querying regarding council tax- you continue to pay council tax whether you are working or not. You don't have to apply for benefits yet.

But if Ska has some savings I can see his point. If he plans to travel around attending initial interviews, collecting together the documents needed and signing on just for 4 weeks can be an inconvenience. And maybe he isn't eligible based on NI contributions for CB JSA
Why don't you want to claim JSA SKA? I should, you might as well have what's available to you just in case you don't find work immediately, every little helps.

But if you decide against it then you don't need to do anything with any other agency or organisation, you just have to pay all the bills as usual. I'd pay some NI too if I were you.

Yes wrong thread!! I've reported myself in the hope of getting my last post removed but apologies to SKA if it stays - I was trying to answer a question about where we met our OHs!
