Buying meat online...
17 Answers
Has anyone ever bought meat from an online company? I don't mean from a supermarket - I mean somewhere like Donald Russell or The Ginger Pig Company.
If so, were you happy with the meat?

We've bought meat from Able and Cole before. Always get the Xmas turkey from there and it's absolutely superb.

Donald Russell meat is excellent and customer service second to none. I bought a pork rack joint and did an online review on their site saying how much I had enjoyed it but one tiny niggle - the rind was not scored. They rang me the next day and insisted on replacing it. The steaks are always first class and it's worth looking out for the online specials - good value. Yes it's more expensive than a supermarket but it's worth it.
I bought sirloin steaks from Donald Russell a year or two ago after reading glowing reports about the quality of the meat. I was very disappointed as the steaks that arrived were so tough!! And expensive. Ordered them for a 'special' meal and my two guests were also surprised and disappointed. Haven't bothered since. Just get my steaks from my local butcher who has 'traceable' meat and, if there's any problem, is happy to replace or refund as necessary. Mind you, I've never had to complain at all regarding the quality of the meat he sells. Not sure if I was just unlucky with Mr Russell's meat - but am not inclined to order from him again. Can't afford to take the chance.
