Back soon tho .. by the looks of things. Bum's still a bit white tho :)
Question Author
That was just for your benefit, since you said you were going to bring me some ;) x How was the holiday (and purlease - pasty white bum??? eewww!)
What's your definition of 'fancy French cheese'? I've tried plenty of French cheeses (including many bought from expensive delicatessens in France) and I've never really found a French cheese which I'd go out of my way to buy again. I simply can't taste most Bries and even Bleu d'Auvergne cheeses rarely seem to pack the 'clout' that I like from a strong-flavoured cheese. (I'll add just one exception to that. I bought a blue cheese baguette from a back street bar in Paris. The type of cheese wasn't specified, but I assumed that it was Bleu d'Auvergne. It was taken out of an unrefrigerated cupboard, and was definitely 'ripe'. It was utterly gorgeous!)
I'm far from pasty dear : )
Lot of outside work .. very hot several days.
On beach for three days. N coast too cold tho.
Was down in the Gulf of Morbihan .. Lorient .. Vannes. Sweet.
Nice Crepe Restaurants (local) with some french neighbours and friends/teenage family.

Chris, I'm not exactly a connoiseur, I was just trying to wind Al up :)
Al, you said yourself your bum was white, and if you do outside work with your breeks off, you might find yourself getting awfy pasty in jail ;)
I must say it was so hot I wore as little as poss tho .. and the French locals would not take much notice anyways.

Already hate this thread, because right now I could KILL for some roquefort!
Question Author
Sorry Phil x
Roquefort?
Nice, but usually grossly over-priced!
I have cheeses, and pates, and prosciutto.............I now feel hungry.
Actually, I could almost kill for any decent blue cheese at the moment. I visited our local Co-op store today, looking for any blue cheese. I know that I can't expect much from a 'corner shop' but they often have a gorgeous Gorgonzola, along with some passable Stilton and a nice sweet Danish Blue. Alas, there was no blue cheese on offer. There was a selection of cheddars, plus some Brie and a few other cheeses but nothing that had any real flavour to it. So (unless I nibble the bit of ordinary Red Leicester that I'm keeping for cheese on toast) I've got no cheese to eat tonight :(
I agree Chris, though I can't see the price dropping any time soon.

I only have it as a treat these days.
Well, I'm going to get myself a plate of cheese and biscuits & maybe some strong pickled onions too. Its your fault Karen, altho I did fancy something & you made my mind up. No fancy cheeses for me, a chunk of Davidstow mature it will be....

As long as you enjoy it Jem :)
Davidstow mature is perfectly acceptable, Jemisa, but if you can get to Waitrose (Fossetts Way, Eastern Avenue, Southend) see if they've got some Keen's cheddar on the deli counter:
http://www.keenscheddar.co.uk/about.htm
It's made from unpasteurised milk, which gives it a truly superb flavour!
i always have all manner of stinky cheese, pate and crackers in my kitchen - the boys would riot if we ran out! i have just gone to grab a plateful so i can feel smug and continue to natter. also moistening the pipes with the rest of last night's bordeaux...mmm x
Chris, thanks for the tip. I pop into Waitrose all the time (mainly because its my nearest Post Office) Altho I shop on line mainly in Tesco, I love to treat myself from there at times. We go in there for lunch a lot, they do beautiful soup, The aisles are wide and very often clear, very cumfy shopping. + B&Q is over the road, H dumps me at Waitrose & s0ds off over there. Its only 5 mins away from us.
We live nearer Cukoo Corner.
PS My eyes are still watering from those pickled onions.
