to die of natural causes anywhere between 13 and 17 years.

friend of mine has a 22 year old Moggs and not showing any signs of joining the St Peter collection yet.

We have just has one cat die who was 17.

A few years back the average age for a cat was considered to be 10 years (allowing for the fact that some cats live into their twenties, but lots of kitten die at a young age). However, with better food and treatment these days, I think it's 12-14 years these days.

My little female moggie is 18 years old but is ailing now. She is being treated for hyperthyroidism and kidney problems which is quite natural for her age.

My poor James had to be put out of his misery at 14 and a half. If I didn't have him put to sleep I reckon he'd have been lucky to last another week, such was the escalation of his fraility. As can be the achilles heel with cats, his kidneys were cream crackered. Arthritus had also set in where he was hit by a car years ago and he had survived cancer too.

He had a nice life, all taken into consideration. I wouldn't complain if I come back in his shoes.

The house doesn't feel right without a cat, but that will be corrected soon.

Our cat recently cashed in his bowl and litter tray aged 15..He was a house cat.

Mightywba, sorry, I feel for you. It's never easy. And getting over the death of your pet is hard too.

We recently had to have our old cat Rosie, put to sleep. She was 23 yrs old & never had a days illness all her life. Just got dementia in her last 2 years.
