Lump that hurts

Is there any truth in the belief that generally - if you have a lump that hurts e.g in the breast, it is less likely to be cancerous?

No, you can't generalise about these things. It may well hurt, it may not. Always get it checked out.

Hi there.

Well a short time ago I had a lump on my breast, just at the side not far from the arm pit. It felt muscley and tender and was quite sore, I was really worried about it and went to the docs, as it turns out, it was because of the bra I was wearing. If a lump on the breast feels hard, like a bit of metal is in there, then I have been told by the doctor that they are the ones to worry about. No matter what though, lumps should be checked out. any lump should always be checked.... i know someone who had breast cancer twice and the second time she wasnt worried as she said it was a different lump.... we made her go to a dr and luckily the caught it in time

I had a tender lump a few years back and went to the doc�s. He told me that if its tender its not likely to be cancer, and it was just lumpy tissue that sorted itself out. It�s always best to go to the doctors anyway, just to be sure.
