How long does your "big shop" last?

We live in a area which is popular with tourists, so to avoid the traffic at peak times we do a big shop at the begining of the school holidays and then just pick up a few odds and ends locally for a few weeks.

With the vegetables and salad we grow in the garden and some local bread and milk, we are into our third week now without having been to a supermarket.

I looked in the cupbaords this weekend and feel fairly confident we can make it though until September unless we get withdrawal symptons of course! How long could you manage without a trip to the supermarket?

If you've got an autistic step son with toileting issues, 5 loo rolls a week is actually on the low side........

I can understand that families are different but I expect a 'value' loo roll to last around 10 days (and that's one thing which I don't consciously economise on!).

Having seen your earlier thread, Barmaid, I thought that your reply to Maidup's question, about how long your 'big shop' lasts, was going to be "up until the point when I'm ready to strangle the shop assistants" ;-)

I order 9 loo rolls every week on our shop - and they all seem to get used - wasn't aware we were on the crapper that much !!!!!!!!!!!!! lol !!

I am lucky if I can get my big shop to last a week!
As I am walking through the door with my shopping my son and hubby are taking things to eat.
I often have to stock up again during the week!!

chris - as regards to loo rolls, if there are any ladies in your household they get used up pretty quick

I do a big shop on Monday and a little shop on Saturday. The little shop serves two purposes - the kids get to pick what they want for tea on a Saturday and get treats for snack night, it is also a form of 'training' them so that they know how to behave in the supermarket.

stopped doing a 'big shop' once the kids left home. used to push two trolleys round asda, can't believe it now, hated getting home with it all and finding a place for it.
these days i buy as and when. stuff from costco when it's on offer or we run out. a trip to aldi for veg and milk and any other bits, again, when we run out. and probably about once a month or less, a trip to asda or sainsburys for things i can't get in aldi (huge packs of frozen birds eye peas, warburtons bread, some tinned stuff, low fat cheese, etc). maybe a quick nip to the local tesco metro for milk and a lottery ticket during the week.
