Hi, I just got back from a holiday in Madeira and had the tastiest fish I've ever tasted. It's called the black scabbard or espada, and I was wondering if anyone knows if I can get it in the UK.

If it is swordfish then many english speaking countries will call it MARLIN or BLUE MARLIN.
The espada is a fish that is only found around madiera and Japan. It is a deep sea fish that is long and round, but when it is brought to the surface the pressure causes it to collapse. We also had a holiday in Madiera and loved espada. One restaurant in the old town of Funchal did espada in Martini sauce, cooked at the table - a meal that we will always remember as one of the best ever tasted. Don't want to be negative but you will probably have great difficulty finding it in UK
