bruised lips....

My daft daughter apparently discovered yesterday that it was great fun to suck her lips right into a Sherbet fountain tube and did it many times before my husband noticed and stopped her. Last night I noticed her lips were swollen and darker than normal and this morning she looks like she' been smacked in the mouth with purple bruising on her lips.

Given that school starts the day after tomorrow is there anything we can do to make it fade fast? She feel very embarresed by it now so hopefully has learned her lesson although I wouldn't put it past her sister to try and see if it works for her!

Before everybody decides that I'm the bad guy here. I asked this because I've got a nine year old girl who is already nervous about going bank to school, sitting in floods of tears because she thinks everybody is going to laugh at her. I came on here to get helpful advice or at least be able to give her some reassurance that it would fade qiuckly. In that respect, I didn't find Sqad's answer particularly helpful and I don't have the energy to deal with his hurt ego this morning. However, to keep the peace - thank you for replying sqad.

Ps. If I don't answer now, it's a shopping trip not a flounce : )
Don't let them put any sherbet it calipo's in the basket, yinyang :p

Hope your daughter is feeling better about it all soon. I'm sure it'll look a lot better by tomorrow.

You could get arnica tablets they will help with the bruising, don't know if it will take all the bruising away before she goes back, but may help.
They do Arnica cream for kids in supermarkets. It's brilliant for brusing, yinyang.
At best, there is no scientific evidence that Arnica cream has any effect on the resolution of bruising and at worst, if applied to mucous membranes e.g lips) can cause intense irritation and possible swelling with allergic manifestations.

If absorbed from the lips can cause all sorts of gastro intestinal and systemic problems

Don't use it on the lips.......it may be dangerous.

Old_Geezer are you trying to give my husband a stroke? His rule is no boyfriends until they're at least 25: ). Could say she's had some collagen injections done...
I remember my sister used to use toothpaste on love bites many years ago. Havent a clue if it had any effect, she use to then cover with scarf.
Would putting some kids lip gloss on them make it any more disguised or is that not allowed at school? If not I bet they will look a whole lot better in 2 days.

thanks, sally and tigwig.

Lips are looking less scary today than they did yesterday, although still quite dark. Think it is the swelling going down that has made the difference.Don't think she'll have to go to school with a bag over her head. : )
