Does Anyone Else Find That Communication...

I have noticed that the current "trend" in music is for men to be singing in falsetto about how much they love their girlfriends. Maroon 5, james Blunt, and another one I saw on MTV just now.
I personally think that songs were never stronger than in the 60s.
What sort of music would you LOVE to hear back in the charts? What would you actually go out and buy? What should new bands be aiming to sound like?
I wonder if we can control the "trends" ourselves...!

The 'golden' age of the sixties was only the sound of youth moving on from the croonathons their parents loved, and finding their own sounds to bond with, and enjoy. It has always been this way, although today the 'youngsters' of yesterday are the record company MD's of today, so at least they have an understanding of the pleasure and passion that their output can attract.
I don't think you can ever go back - except as a kitch 'tribute' style - music must always evolve and move on so, much as I adore sixties pop, it was, and is, of it't time and place, and belongs there and then, not here and now.
