common law rights when a child is involved
I recently separated from my partner of 5 years we have one child together, the house and cars are in his name, as is the business i helped him to set up, when we met i sold my car to help pay off his credit card and get his business up and running, he runs a falconry business and some of the birds are in my name, can i force him to sell them as they are my property, surely having a child which he has made no attempt to contact or contribute for means i have some rights??

However, you may have some rights due to the length of time you have been together and whether your intentions were long term, and of course the fact that you have a child together. It's not cut and dried and ummmm is right that you must see a solicitor.

If the birds are yours you are perfectly entitled to sell them.
Good luck.
