What is important is that there is consistency. One expected the excessive sentences for minor roles to be overturned.

The article says "Ms Nevin had been asleep at the time of the riots but was given the clothing by her lodger who stole goods from the Vans store and took them back to their house in Stretford"
This gives the impression she may not have known they were stolen.
When it was first reported though I thought all the spoils of the looting were laid out and she was asked if she fancied anything.

Anyway, personally I like the idea of giving some community service for some offenders provided it is substantial
