How to get at the motor on a Hoover U3485 PurePower

I have had Hoover vacuum cleaners for more years than I care to remember and have always cleaned, serviced and repaired them myself with no problems. Three or four years ago I bought a PurePower 1800W, model U3485 which I now need to get into to check the actual motor.

I have undone all the obvious screws but I am unable to remove what I believe is the motor cover. Does anyone have any ideas - or even a copy of a repair manual. (I have got the User Instructions that came with the vac but this only covers the very basic stuff.)

I bet it is latched together with the plastic housing integral parts. No slots or tab markers anywhere?

There are a couple of concealed Philips screws which refuse to budge. I guess these have been loctited (if that's the right word). I don't want to force them in case I crack something plastic. (Bring back metal houusings!)
I should think they are straight into the plastic .. and just a bit tight.
