I don't know the purpose but I love Google maps. I've been able to see where my cousins live in NZ and the house my father was born in, in the Shetlands.
I love it too. If I need to go somewhere I haven't been before I always check it out on there first. It tells me how far and how long it will take to drive and its always spot on. Then I can look at the destination or the importnat junction so thatI'll recognise it when I get there.
When we went on holiday last I checked out the cottage before we booked and on the journey I knew to turn right at the Texeco garage as if I'd been there numerous times before! I'd just looked it up on google maps and familiarised myself with the landmarks.
I spend hours on google maps looking at the coastline satellite views of around the world. Only yesterday I was zoomed right in on the coast of West Africa. Fascinating.
ooh i love having a look at google maps, especially using street view etc.
ive been on many an 'excursion' without costing me a single penny in petrol and leaving my arm chair lol.
and to get the desired fresh air whilst out and about on my 'travels', i just take the laptop outside and sit in the garden! ;o)
