TO WITCH OFF OR NOT?!

I have everything provided by Virgin Cable service TV, V+Box and Computer are all on the same Power Switch. Over night everything is on stand-by. To save power, can I switch off the main switch every night, or will that damage the computer/TV? Opinion amongst my friends is divided and I am not technically minded.

I have a similar set up and just switch it off (well pull the plug because i don't have switches). I've done so for ages and no problems have arisen. Make sure your computer has shut down first though.

We can switch off our computer which then takes down the printer etc., too, but I would be careful not to switch off our home hub for broadband - if it's off for more than a few seconds, we have to ring India.
