Rabbits - which sex to get?
7 Answers
We are preparing for 2 rabbits and am getting conflicting advise about what sexes to get. I obviously don't want any babies. So is it 2 girls or 2 boys?

Beyond a shadow of doubt 2 girl bunnies. Eddie is right about the 2 males. Please be very very careful to make sure you have 2 females as have known people who have got the sex wrong more than once. You could always have a rabbit and guinea pig together. They make excellent companions for each other.
Hope this helps.

As a rabbit owner for many years, I definitely would suggest you get two females. Please, please make sure you get a large hutch for them with a run and make sure it is weatherproof. I keep mine indoors and they are lovely to watch and great fun. You can easily litter train them by getting a cat litter tray filling it with woodshavings and straw/hay. If they wee on the floor, just get a bit of newspaper, wipe it up and put it under the shavings, they will soon get the idea. Make sure you get them mixi jabbed and neutured once they reach maturity as female rabbits get womb cancer if they are not neutered. In my experience, males will always fight. Dwarf or mini lop rabbits have a lovely temperament, as do lionheads. Good luck and enjoy.
riptide - Thank you for your advise. I think females it will be. The rabbits will live outside, but my husband has built the hutch himself as the ones in the shops are flimsy and I was surprised at how thin the wood was.
We've been able to make a bigger hutch and run than we could get with our money, and its fully insulated. We've probably over egged it really, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. :0)
