VLC works better on power?

I have come across an odd phenomenen when playing movie files on my netbook. It has a lithium ion battery which is ok for 2.5 hours at most.

My videos are in various formats including avi, mkv and ogv - all of which are playable on VLC. However, i noticed that the larger files ( usually .5 GB and higher ) would not play when on battery power- you get audio and a pixellated picture which will not move.They play fine enough when plugged in tho! Smaller files are also ok when on Battery.

Is there any logic to this? I cant think why large files will not play on batteries. Is VLC using a lot of power with a large file?

Same playing a DVD?
I would think that the draw needed when buffering, and loading the file(s) .. and the resources needed were enough that the battery couldn't keep up with it.

Be worth checking the Power options in control panel. You may find that the "on battery" optimisation is the cause of the problem.

thanks for the tip rojash. i changed the power settings from maximum to laptop and it works fine now!
