attaching flat tv to wall where do put the sky box and consoles?

I want to go with a modern look in the new house with tv's on the walls in each room. So I am requesting the electrician put the power and tv sockets half way up the wall but when you want a sky box, HD recorders and games consoles attached what are you supposed to do with them? have them on a table below with cables up and down the wall? I'm lost.

I am hoping the electrician can divide the input sky channel from the main tv all round the house we don't mind watching the same channel in each room, I'm not paying for sky multi room because there are too many rooms.

If anyone could offer any assistance and tell me how you have set yours up I would be very grateful.

Mine are on a shelf below the screen, with all wires black taped together.

I know exactly what you mean. To avoid those cables up the wall that distract and spoil the 'build-in' affect get some of these installed.

... where you plan to place the skybox/DVD etc. I have two TVs installed this way and have access to the back of the TVs thru the wall on the other room. The access is covered by a picture.

ahhh so you have an additional socket above and below and instead of plugging from the tv to the console direct you plug from wall plate sockets instead which means to need two lots and cables each time instead on one cable if you were going direct. Why do you have access from the other room? I couldn't do this as the walls are like 2 ft thick solid rock.

Mine is an umbilical cord that connects Plasma screen to everything else.
It goes through wall (chimney breast) and out the side into my multi-media cupboard.
No cables or conduit can be seen at all.

Yes, what..the, the back of the wall sockets need to be fed through the wall up to the back of the TV. The access to the back is only possible through internal walls of course.

If there is no way you can feed the wires thru the wall you may be able to place a plant stratigically and hide the wire up in that.

Failing that, here's an "idea"..... 2' thick walls (stone) ........ excellent. Dig out enough stone to form a "built-in" cupboard. (Below the screen?). Very easy to do - don't bother trying to split the stone. Make up an MDF "box" to fit into the recess. Fit a plain flush panel for a door (push-catches so no knobs sticking out). Something as unobtrusive as possible. Fit sockets, consoles etc inside out of sight.
I'm always digging out sections of thick walling to fit basins into very small shower rooms etc, wardrobes etc............

lol mate. Yes it looks cool with no wires seen anywhere. Even the phone's in a cupboard!

I'm always digging out stone walls to make niches, and in my place I made some small long flush cupboards below the splay bays/window seat.
