Well, kitchen architect (if you like) a nice young lady - was here and went over my old kitchen - however she said since I wanted 1600 rpm washing machine she said I had to go for a smaller washing machine as the integration? would not fit. Now my old washing machine was just covered by a door so I would rather have a larger drum with a door as I do wash mats etc. I think I will buy my own washing machine - I thought any appliance could be integrated. Is that the start of the wee fibs?

does it have to be intergrated? they cost a lot more than standard washers and you could go for exact model you wanted. I have high gloss white kitchen and all the appliances (dishwasher / washer / dryer) are all black and on show.

Have you not got somewhere else you can put the washing machine?

I don't think they are lying.

very small kitchen and washing machine could go nowhere else but where it is at the moment - I will just get new washing machine and door matching the rest of the kitchen perhaps clasped together some way or another.

We have an integrated Kitchen. Dish Washer.Fridge. Freezer. Oven etc. I would NOT recommend it to anyone.Buy free standing appliances, much less hassle.

why mic mac
i expect you are right there, trim ;)
Just an observation, Connie, but every integrated W/M I've seen, eventually loosens the door and fittings with the vibration. No big deal, but annoying.
When I've made kitchens up from scratch, and fitted them, I've often painted the doors and the appliances to match. You can paint anything, with the right primer.
One time, I took all the doors and the appliances to a car sprayshop, and they did the lot ............ any colour you like .......... :o)))

thanks for that answer Builder - but I wont be doing any of that as I am on my own but it does give food for thought re the rattling etc Thanks once again
I am a kitchen designer and I can tell ou that only appliances that are integrated can be integrated, however, when it comes to washing mchines and tumble driers, they can be fitted into a space and a door can be fitted to a larger panel but there will be a significant gap between door lines as integrated applinces are smaller in order to fit ino a space of 600mm.

your designer is correct ad advising you properly. Integrated washing machines also have the fixings for the appliance door on the front of the appliance itself.

if you have any further q's I will be happy to help. Best of luck
Sorry Conne I was called away. Everything is much more expensice and a lot of hassle when they go wrong. You also have to pay someone to unfit the old appliance and refit the new one. Where as if you got to Currys or the like they do every thing for you with free standing gear.

thanks very much peelerpal - if I do want any answers I will be calling you.
I see where micmak is coming from but it's all about asthetics and of course individual taste. As far as expense goes there is a fine difference really as you can get cheap/expensive appliances regardless of whether they are integrated or not.
You're welcome Connemmara. Make sure you are 100% happy with your design and you know exactly what has been done to suit your requirements before you approve anything.

I have always had free-standing appliances apart from the dishwasher - freestanding fridge/freezer, and washing machine - tumble drier was in a spare bedroom (suited me) but because this will be my last kitchen in my lifetime I have decided to get the real macoy. I know I could be leaving myself with a headache - oh what the heck - when you see the troubles like Mandy Sellars has - I think I will take my chances. But thanks for all your replies.
May I ask out of pure curisoty, which company is desiging/installing for you?

Have to go downstairs and have look PeelerPal - hold on xxxxx Kingsway Kitchen - Dunmurry - am wanting ultra white gloss.
I know kingsway kitchens, they do a lot of designs for local housing projects and you will probably notice that your new plan matches the layout of your existing kitchen. they are a big company and will generally give you sound and honest advice. But they are far from what we say in the trade 'bespoke' but if you have a small budget you will certainly get value for your money
