Privacy!
Hi everyone.
I have worked for the same company for 6 years now. Myself and the bosses daughter are the only one's who work in the office. I send and receive numerous emails throughout the day to clients. I never send personnel ones from my work and never receive them. I have nothing to hide. But, I have found out today that the bosses daughter can view all emails that I send and receive from her own outlook express on her Pc. I have never been told this.
Is this an intrusion of privacy? or is it something that all companies do?
Thanks in advance.

It is sometimes necessary for other people to be able to access emails- for example if you were not in and a query arose on a matter you had been dealing with by email. But I would expect it to work both ways- it would make sense if you could also see the boss's daughter's emails. Can you access hers? If not it might be worth suggesting that you be given access for the same reason she has access to yours.
It might also be worth suggesting that personal emails (if allowed) should be flagged as such and access to those should be restricted to the boss.

Hi factor30.
No I cannot access her emails like she does mine. At the moment she is on annual leave so I am accessing her emails using her pc. (That's how I found out that she can access mine).
I have never sent personal emails from my work email so I am not worried about having privacy there. I have a good relationship with some of our clients and sometimes we can write harmless banter. Just feels a bit strange now that I know she reads them.
Thank god she doesn't know when I'm looking at the internet. Or does she?
