micro wave oven we have rust inside the door would this rust affect the food i say that we should get rid of it my wife disagrees any advice please

It won't affect it unless the metal starts to thin drastically.

If you want to smarten it up again you can get special paint suitable for use inside a microwave.

If you are doubtful why not cook things with a cover on so that nothing will fall into it.
