Leg Cramps in the Morning

Once or twice a week I will get cramp when I stretch while still half asleep. Sometimes I can stop it by relaxing-but too often it is excruciating.
Some research has told me it could be due to several things-dehydration,or lack of Potassium/Magnesium/Sodium.
I admit I am not great at getting enough water in me,but I am often just not thirsty.
What should I do in order to lessen these attacks?

Tonic water does still have quinine in it, read the list of ingredients to be sure. I suffered excruciating cramps in my legs each night a couple of years ago and started drinking a small glass of tonic water before going to bed. It worked almost instantly. After a few weeks I just drank it once or twice a week. I've been fine ever since. It was recommended to me by the pharmacist in Boots.
Valanne, correct as my post stated earier: >>The amount of quinine in today's Schweppes Tonic is too small to have any medicinal effect, but it is still highly regarded throughout Europe for its unique taste and style.

I just picked up some sweet potatoes...mmmm,and will look for quinine water tomorrow.
I love sweet potatoes, especially roasted in olive oil, but also just mashed with loads of pepper and a bit of salt.

They say too much salt is bad for us, but we need a reasonable amount to stop us getting cramp.
