is this money down the drain

we pay a monthly fee to dixons where i bought the computer, in case anything goes wrong, for technical services, and wondering whether this is worth it. There were lots of problems with the last computer, so no idea if this is wasted. Its quite a lot when you work it out per year

For approx. 26p a day you might as well have it, even if it's purely for peace of mind...

I never take out the after sales bakcup. It is guaranteed for a year anyway. Computers are out of date as soon as they come of the shelf. It is fairly cheap to replace a computer when it does go wrong. Don't you have any friends who are savvy with computers? That helps. Also you havall your friends on here to help?
I didn't have the same with last computer, quite honestly didn't think of it, as i simply assumed, wrongly i might add, that we wouldn't have had as many problems with it, nor spend so long getting the matter sorted. I am amazed that so many goods, electrical or otherwise go wrong in so short a space of time, considering what you spend on them. A friend who is savvy couldn't sort the last one, nor in fact any number of outlets i tried, the cost was prohibitive. So looks like will continue on, its 8 quid a month by the way.
