Big kids at heart
15 Answers
I found a half used canister of bubbles after my nieces children visited today. I was transported right back to my childhood as I (age 64) stood in the garden blowing bubbles into a cloudless sunny sky and seeing all the colours!! Wonderful!! I guess I'm just a big kid at heart! The neighbours knew the children had gone home so perhaps they had a secret giggle at me! I also love swinging (the usual sort - no naughty thoughts please!) Why doesn't an enterprising person make an adult playground in a resort with heavy duty slides, swings and roundabouts - we oldies would have a field day ..... WHEEEEEEEE !!

i remember the playground in our local park like it was yesterday..the big slide, the ''witches hat'' the sand pit..and lots more i remember sliding down the slide and a piece of metal was jutting out and it gashed my leg from thigh to ankle [ouch]...there was blood everywhere it got me 2 weeks off school tho lol...i walk past the spot every week with the dog,it is still a playground but much safer now..ahhhh the memories..
Likewise Stokemaveric - I also remember the children's playground in our local park (still there but safer now!) I was about 10 years old and sneaked out to the playground with some friends despite being told by my Mum I couldn't go on the big slide (a little boy had been killed by falling from the top a few weeks earlier) I got to the very top of the slide and there was a nail jutting out and to my horror I got my skirt caught around it and it ripped it from waistband to hem (fortunately it didn't hurt me!) What did hurt was the "good hiding" I got when I arrived home holding the pieces of my skirt together around me!! Talk about "be sure your sins will find you out!!" I've never forgotten it!!
Think I'll ask Santa for a bubble machine then - oh yes and a skipping rope and a hula-hoop, a post office set, a set of sewing cards, french knitting set, a sugar mouse and one of those little monkeys on elastic who climbs a ladder and goes right over the top ............ what memories aaahh! What would you like for Christmas which takes you back to your childhood days?
Absolutely love blowing bubbles. Devastated that my grand chilren are now too big to need my assistance down a slide. Never could get swings right but willing to keep on trying. Ooh to have a go on a Witch's Hat. The joy of a helterskelter! Adult playground or ballpark. Yes Please. But would have to bulldoze my daughter aside.
Loved the swings and slides but hated see-saws in the 50s - I was such a little pudding heavier than most - I always hit the ground with a tremendous thud and left my friend stranded in the air! Once I hit the ground really hard and somehow got my feet in the way, its a wonder I didn't break my ankles. 'Elf n Safety are you listening .....you aint seen nothing today!
A playground for pensioners - thats great marval! Thanks for finding that - I definitely would use it if I lived in Manchester as gyms are far too expensive and playground equipment would be much more fun. I would love to send this article
