raising the floor

Can anyone explain to me briefly, how you might go a bout raising a floor. It's for a garage conversion. Thanks.

You can either put another layer of screeed down if it is a concrete floor, or you can buy floor joist hangers which are bolted into the structural walls and then raise the floor .

Remember though if you are raising the floor you are losing head height so you may have to raise the roof as well.
