Ex Council Tennant - Will they buy back off me?

Was a council tennant for 11 years. Then (stupidly) 6 years ago bought the house with my then partner. Now we are no longer together, I cannot afford the house on my own, cannot raise capital to buy him out, nor can i afford monthly mortgage payments :(
I am based in Bedfordshire, will the local council consider buying the property back off me, and then rent it back to me as a council tennant again? Or is this just wishful thinking on my part!>!>?!?!>!<!?

Highly unlikely that they'll buy, and, if it's just you, highly unlikely that you will get tenancy of a house when there are families waiting.

Just a suggestion but what about letting a room out to generate a bit of income. It's not an ideal solution (I had to do it for years) but it keeps the roof over your head.

It is me and my now 18yr old daughter, (in full time Ed). If the council would buy it back off me, i could pay himself off and stay there without uprooting me and the daughter..... just thought it would be an easier resolution....
Ill have to ring the housing officer methinks!

Needs must ... etc. Having to share your home with a stranger isn't ideal, but it is one way to generate extra income to tide you over. i'd consider Postdog's suggestion if I were you. Failing that it is a case of finding another (evening ?) job somewhere.

I still doubt the council will do this but there are firms which will. They buy the house at below market rates though, and they do rent back to existing tenants. However if you end up down that road be careful as I have heard a few horror stories.
