Second question - it is because he lied about his conviction not because he was convicted of assault.
They would have the same stance if he spun the same story about assaulting his girlfriend's threatening ex but in reality burgled and assault a male OAP.

Interesting - but I wonder if he'd lied, but "the other way around" - if he'd actually say, attacked a man, but claimed he'd attacked a woman? Is it really the deception, or the crime itself that's the problem?

IMO it's because he lied.

I thought in this country if found guilty of a crime and served a sentence, you had 'repaid your debt to society' albeit the crime will and should stick to you to some extent.

In these days of equality, I cannot see any difference if he attacked a man or a woman.

Regarding losing his winnings, I would think that with that money he would be able to afford a good lawyer, I don't think the TV company have a leg to stand on.

He should keep the money.

I don't think the legal stance of ITV/Syco should be affected as he admitted that he had been previous convictions and obviously stated what they were, I don't think it matters to them the gender of the victim.
That said, in my opinion a man attcking a woman is far worse than a man attacking a man, not a very PC stance I know but my morals aren't dictated by what's PC. Assaulting a woman and, judging by the pictures, a very slight woman, is absolutely cowardly. Then lying about it all on national TV to make out he was the victim is pathetic. The lads a piece of krappe, a very lucky one though!!

he lied and if in the contract it states that he should have ''no criminal convictions''...then he should not get the million pounds..he is a nasty piece of work by the looks of it anyway..what coward hits a woman???

The question asked was probably 'Do you have any criminal convictions' followed up by 'what are they'. I doubt very much they would ask for the names of the victims, so I imagine he hasn't actually lied.
