never, it's written in the Constitution, and why should we be concerned, we have our own nutters to contend with

"When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns", goes the saying among the gun lobby here. Given that we'd have to amend the Constitution, it is, as DTC says, unlikely (besides, we basically stole the 2nd amendment from the English Bill of Rights of 1689, which said the Protestants could bear arms to protect themselves from the nasty Papists. So it's all pretty much England's fault.).

BTW, "going postal" now refers to defaulting on your pension obligations, not shooting up an IHOP:

I agree, Steg, Plymouth the same here and, as to Hungerford, I bet it wouldnt be a huge challenge in Bristol, Swindon, or Reading. Little Itching-on-Itchen, maybe, but then there may be some dat yokel In the "Horses' Balls" who would lend or rent you one.
Actually gun laws are far stricter than that; age 18+ in most states, for example:

Using the comparison of other potentially lethal things (cars, planes etc) is pretty feeble IMO for the simple fact that guns are *designed* for killing, they are WEAPONS, that is their intended purpose!
"Guns don't kill poeple, PEOPLE with guns kill people" is also a ridiculous argument IMO for the same reason. Sure PEOPLE kill people, but the gun does make it just a little bit easier !
Never is the answer to your question sandy. They will never give up their right to bear guns if they want to. It is a pity they have been banned in this country - we shall do very badly in that part of the Olympics because there is nowhere to practice.
goooooooaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllllll, Scotland just scored
