Hi guys, our company intends binging in 'random' testing,I work in the tensport industry and wondered what your thoughts were on this matter, also thier is talk of having cameras in the vehicles too.
Thanks for all your replies,I have no probs with the testing but the cameras would have mic's on them so they can listen to all your private conversations which I dont agree with.
When I worked on the railways, routine drug and alcohol tests were accepted by everyone. The maximum permitted alcohol level was less than half of that which would result in a drink-driving conviction.
The tests were a 'pain in the @rse' in terms of the disruption they could cause to the running of the railway station (with anyone who was unable to produce a urine sample straight away 'quarantined' away from their work until such time as they could do so) but they were accepted as necessary to the job.
The station also had 60 CCTV cameras (including some with sound), so we were always aware that we were 'on camera'. Nobody seemed to mind.
Airline flight deck crew always have all of their conversations recorded. I've never heard of a pilot complaining about it.
why are you worried about it?
There should be more cameras in vehicles IMO
Bus drivers have them, so why shouldn't lorry, taxi, parts delivery drivers etc have them?
They are there more for the drivers protection than anything else
Bus drivers are also routinely and randomly spot checked for drugs and alcohol, why should your company be any different?
