Problem with BT Broadband Connection

Since last night my broadband keeps dropping out and I get a webpage that comes up with BT Home Hub Manager.
It asks me what sort of connection I'm using (ADSL) then asks if I'm a BT Total customer then says problem fixed and lets me surf again.
This time it just happened and asked me to check the wires in the box (all fine). Then it asked me to check the colour of the lights and told me to click if they were either red or green, but they are all blue as they should be. Then again it just lets me carry on.
It's driving me crazy, doing this every 10 minutes or so now. Has anyone had this problem before? I'm loathed to try and phone BT.

At one point it told me to report a fault on the line; after an hour or so I had a call from them saying the line was OK and I should contact my service provider. That's you, I said. He laughed and said it was a different department.....
Anyway, I thought I'd solved it by moving the home hub further away from the computer, It was fine for several weeks, then started going off again. Moved it further away, and it got much better for a while before... you've guessed it! So when it starts happening now I just move the hub an inch or two, and that seems to work. But at some stage I'm going to run out of cable....

Even just turning it round might help, if you can't move it. I've tried everything I could think of, and distance is the only thing that works. Someone phoned to ask me to upgrade to BT Infinity; I told her that there was no chance, as the service I'm currently getting is so poor, why would I want a more expensive piece of rubbish? She wasn't happy.
