I was prescribed one month's supply for acid reflux. Does anyone take these permanently ? I don't want my problem to return after I stop.
There wasn't a repeat prescription with them and I wondered if I have to keep going back to the doctor to ask for more. Many thanks.

This is a lifetime drug therapy, like insulin is to the diabetic and thyroxine is to the hypothyroid. ......get used to it.

I have been on them for 6mths. Forgot them for a couple of days and the symptoms came back. It all depends on how severe your reflux is. I was prescribed them after scarring was spotted on the oesophagus from acid but had no other symptoms except as when I forgot them and got the usual heartburn symptom which I didn't have before!! Rx
I was prescribed these as I was suffering from very bad pain between the shoulders which was diagnosed as indigestion. I took them for a week, the pain went, stopped taking them and have not had the problem again. It was a great relief as I had had no sleep for a week as I could not get comfortable.
I stopped taking them a month ago and have had no reflux since. Mind you, I think I was prescribed them as a precaution when I had pancreatitis before it was diagnosed, and have been on them ever since. I suddenly decided to stop all the medication I was given at the time (two years ago) and feel none the worse for it.
