Liver transplant vs vinegar

I was given 7 days to live-had sucessful transplant (touch and go initially) in 6 days. I never drank, (and numerous blood tests must have prooved that), BUT I have been known to drink vinegar, on and off for years-anyway, (have stayed off it for months) drank half jar of onion vinegar today (been eating onions all week),and now have (still-4 hours later) bad heartburn/burning in my stomach-apart from NEVER buying vinigar or pickled onions again-should I phone QE Liver clinic in the morning, or will one week (for whole jar-big jar)not hurt me? It hasn't been confirmed vinegar was cause, but as i only ever had a drink at christmas-surely it must be?

does vinegar cause liver failure then? Have you ever been told vinegar caused your problems?

Since you've not started what was wrong with your liver (but given your references to alcohol playing no part in it), I'm assuming that it was cirrhosis. In which case (since it wasn't alcoholic cirrhosis) you appear to be referring to primary biliary cirrhosis.

Nobody knows the exact causes but vinegar isn't among the possible triggers listed here:

Further, the usual symptoms of PBC don't seem to include heartburn or similar discomfort, so there's unlikely to be any connection.

no bedknobs, i said above-but its acid and I feel so bad, and did before eventually went yellow-I drank just vinegar most days-can't believe started again-but thats it no more vinegar in this house-hear me mickrog?

Liver failure doesn't only occur because of alcohol. (Although vinegar is a brewed condiment) You could have just had a NAFLD - That is a none-alcoholic fatty liver disease. I'd give up the vinegar though, that much acid can't be good for your stomach or kidney's

You could ring them just to be on the safe side..... I've never heard of anyone drinking vinegar before.

boxtops-I've never known anyone else do it-I am weird with food-eat same things over and over-bad for my weight, but how I am (need varied diet, I know but always return to 'comfort zone'

I new somebody who used to suck Aspirin as though they were Smarties.
he did also drink alcohol.Either of these could have caused the Cirrhosis
that eventually killed him.

Drop a dirty coin into either vinegar or Cola and it will bring it up clean.If it
can do thet to a coin think what it's doing to your inside.

I took that for a while, Eddie, as apple cider vinegar with honey in water - I take it in a capsule now, good for the joints (they say).

his will not trouble your new liver one "jot".....in fact it would hardly of troubled your "knackerd" liver.

The amount of acid in vinegar is extremely small.
