Got the cooking bug so wondered is it too early to make Christmas cake? Cheers

If you make it now, you can "feed" it with alcohol every fortnight and make sure it is wrapped up tightly.
Never too early for Xmas cake, it doesn't have to be Xmas to eat it I've had it in June

Yes, it is never too early to do this. I would start it now and then do what the others say. Feed it with alcohol every 2 weeks or so.
Last year I used the Delia cake pack from Waitrose. I normally make my own but it was really very good (fed it well with brandy), to my mind the only thing not so good were the nuts which were chopped really small, I do like to find nice bits of nut in my fruit cake.
Whoever mentions the C word should be shot. I seem to recall that we had Christmas last year and the year before that. Could we not just give it a miss for this year and save us all the bother of cooking and presents.

Forgo pressys and cooking and put the.money towards going out for a meal, or get a takeout the night before and rehearse, we did that last year was good and then friends came over for beers.


As for empty calories, sometimes you deserve them say after dieting and 9 months of pregnancy lol give me cake.
