Will the US forces be able to leave before the next Presidential election if the Taliban can keep up this level of action?

Well they cleared out of Iraq and there are still many bombings by insurgents

USA never went into Iraq or Afghanistan to stay there apart from few timely and few long term objectives. In Iraq they still control Oil rich areas next to Kuwait border and in Afghanistan they would stay in western areas because of few reasons. Those areas are full of natural resources including gas and oil, then pressure on Iran and finally weapon testing grounds for USA and NATO.
