hype!
26 Answers
I just seen a TV ad for Imelda May's new album which declares her 'the undisputed queen of rock n roll'. Excuse me???? I can't even name one of her songs, let alone hum them. Earlier this year a TV ad for Alfie Boe's debut CD described him as 'the nation's favourite tenor', when I doubnt many peole had even heard of him. What do you make of such hype and who do you think are truly deserving of those descriptions?

i know Imelda, and she would die sooner than claim to be 'queen' of anything, she is a very unassuming and modest person.
But the advert is designed to sell, so it's not going to say "Imelda May is a hot rockabilly star, but not rock and roll, that;s a different sub-genre althogether ..." so they just bump it up, and people that are interested will buy, and those who are not will ignore.
Next week - is Cillit Bang really worth getting that excited about ....?
