I've been having problems with my BT broadband for a week so far. The speed is running at less than half of what it should be which means it's impossible to access some sites, like videos on YouTube. It also means I can't use BT Vision as it requires a faster connection.
An engineer came round today and established the problem lies with the cables underground outside the house so I have to wait until someone can come and dig some of my driveway up before everything will work again. (I'm a bit dubious about this).
I'm not really one for making a big deal out of things but in this scenario would you ask BT for a refund or partial credit as I'm unable to make the most of the service I'm paying for?
I would, if the problem is BT's own cables that not giving you the service you should be getting. If you don't ask you don't get... all they can say is no...
Make sure you date and time all your calls, and ask the name of the person to whom you are speaking, and also ask which Site they are speaking from - thiw will enable you to chase down individuals if things become unravelled further on.
Keep records of all your calls, and all data exchanged.
Thanks for the answers. I think I'll keep a diary of calls, etc made and wait until it has been sorted out then work out how many days I was left without full service and ask for those days to be credited to my bill.
