If you ask me, everybody should get holidays off. No q's asked. I'd like answers from rel bosses please. Holidays are time to spend w/ family, not macines that stamp the M on M&M'S candies!
What shouldn't happen is people taking work on holiday with them... when you are sitting on the beach and at least 5 people around you are doing stuff on their laptops, when they are constantly disturbed by work related calls on mobiles... its one way in which technology is a bad thing... for some people its made it possible for them to reassure themselves how...

I am not sure who really benefits.. Last time I had a proper holiday my boss asked for my mobile number in case there were problems...I refused and she got quite arsy about it I pointed out she'd had plenty of time to sort out things like cover and learning what I did... but it almost seems expected in some quarters now
Are you talking about working on bank/public holidays?
If you are talking about normal holidays then for some jobs (like teachers and many others) then you sometimes have to do some work whilst on holiday... but I can't see why anyone would need to stamp Ms on M&Ms in their holidays
if everyone got every bank holiday public holiday off, then they wouldn't have much of their holiday entitlment left at all, I'd rather have the extra 8 days to take as a proper break than random Mondays
